FAQs

What attributes does ChallengeMy look for in a consultant?

We’re looking for experienced professionals who share our values of integrity, fairness, transparency and empowerment and who bring those principles to life in every customer interaction.

Our consultants are people who:

  • Communicate clearly and calmly
  • Can cut through complexity and explain situations in plain English
  • Stay objective and balanced under pressure
  • Handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Use their experience to help others find direction and resolution

While a legal background can be helpful, it isn’t essential. What matters most is the ability to listen, understand people and guide them with clarity and care.

Does ChallengeMy only accept consultants with a background in law?

Not at all. Our consultants come from a wide range of professional backgrounds.

Because ChallengeMy is not a regulated law firm and does not provide legal advice, legal qualifications are not a requirement.

While knowledge of the law can be helpful, what matters most is strong communication, empathy and the ability to help people make sense of complex situations.

Does ChallengeMy offer equal opportunities?

Yes. ChallengeMy is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

We actively seek to build a team of consultants whose backgrounds and experiences reflect the diversity of the people we support.

How do I become a ChallengeMy consultant?

Once you register your interest in becoming a ChallengeMy consultant, your details will be carefully reviewed by our team.

If your skills and experience align with what we’re looking for, we’ll invite you to book a 30‑minute online interview. Please bear with us – we’re currently receiving a high level of interest.

Following the interview, successful candidates will complete an online proof‑of‑identity check and provide evidence of any requested qualifications or certificates. This includes a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.

Once these checks are complete, ChallengeMy will issue a digital agreement for you to review and sign.

After signing, you’ll officially become a registered ChallengeMy consultant.

I was not accepted by ChallengeMy. Can I reapply?

Yes. In some cases, a decision not to proceed isn’t about an individual’s experience or suitability, but about maintaining the right balance between the number of registered consultants and the volume of customers we’re supporting.

Getting that balance right ensures every consultant has meaningful opportunities to work with customers.

From time to time, ChallengeMy may operate a waiting list for individuals who have the right skills and attitude. If this applies, we’ll ask whether you’d like to be added to the list for future consideration.

What equipment do I need to become a ChallengeMy consultant?

You’ll need access to a computer with a camera and a stable broadband connection –  that’s all.

Everything else you need to work effectively with customers will be provided through ChallengeMy’s secure online platform.

Will training be provided by ChallengeMy?

Yes. ChallengeMy provides comprehensive online training for all consultants.

This includes guidance on using our proprietary technology platform, which serves as the main interface between customers, consultants and solicitors.

Do consultants have to wear a uniform?

No. ChallengeMy consultants are not required to wear a uniform, but we do expect a professional appearance, comprising business attire, when engaging with customers on screen.

How will a ChallengeMy customer be allocated to me?

ChallengeMy pairs each customer with the consultant best suited to their needs.

This matching process is supported by our technology platform, which considers several factors to ensure the right fit.

Cases are offered electronically to consultants, who can then choose whether to express interest or decline.  For each case, you will be required to establish your hourly rate of compensation.

Do I have to work long days or certain hours?

No. ChallengeMy operates a flexible working model, allowing consultants to decide how many cases they take on at any one time.

We simply ask that consultants make every effort to accommodate customers when arranging meetings.

Can I work from home?

Yes. ChallengeMy’s model is designed to support home working in almost all cases.

Occasionally, a customer may request a home visit – this will always be made clear when the case is shared.

If you’re not comfortable with a home visit, you can simply decline the case.

What activities will I be required to undertake?

All consultant activities are explained in detail during ChallengeMy’s training programme and set out clearly in your consultant agreement.

This includes your key responsibilities, expected deliverables and indicative timeframes for each task.

Do consultants work for ChallengeMy?

No. ChallengeMy consultants are self‑employed professionals who make their services available to ChallengeMy.

Becoming self‑employed is a straightforward process, and we can provide guidance to help you get set up if needed.

Are ChallengeMy consultants required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (“DBS”) certificate?

Yes. All consultants must hold a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate before being accepted by ChallengeMy, and it must remain valid throughout their engagement.

ChallengeMy is unable to accept applications from individuals with criminal convictions, excluding certain motoring offences.

How much does ChallengeMy pay?

Payment varies depending on your background, experience and the number of hours you choose to work.

ChallengeMy consultants are highly skilled professionals, and our rates of compensation reflect that.

The rate of compensation will be agreed on a case by case basis depending on the specifics of the case.

Does ChallengeMy pay consultants for time spent undertaking training?

Yes. Once you’ve completed your first case, you’ll receive a one‑off payment to recognise the time spent completing ChallengeMy’s mandatory online training.
